Hi, My name is Thomas Murray. My mother is Kathleen Devitt(born 1922) in Ballagh(Lickeen Lake) Ireland. My grandfather Micheal Devitt had 11 brothers who went to Australia(Brisbane) circa 1890. Also a brother Patrick Devitt went to California and fought in the Phillipines in WW1. I was left the family farm which goes back to 1780(Michael Devitt). There are still a lot of Devitts in Clare. I was told that the name derives from 'De Witt' which was the name of some Dutch soldiers retreating from the battle of Kinsale in the 1600's.

HI I am descended from a Catherine Devitt - dau of John Devitt & Catherine?. Our records show Catherine (snr) aged 40, Catherine aged 10 & John aged 21 arriving in Tasmania in 1854.
The birthplace for catherine (snr) looks like Killeloe, while Cath (jr) looks like Clonby, John's birthplace is down as Co Clare. Can you help with some records etc. We do not know what happened to John (snr)
